Upcoming Genealogy Event: WHEN: Saturday, September 15 @ 1:00 p.m., Middle TN Genealogical Society Presents our bimonthly meeting. WHERE: The John P Holt Brentwood Library, 1809 Concord Rd, Brentwood TN, 37027 GUEST SPEAKER : Sherry M. Teal TOPIC: "The Trail of Tears" Sherry M. Teal's areas of expertise include Native American Indians' history, linguistics, ethnohistory, and ethno-environmental history. She will be attaining her Master of Arts in History with an emphasis in Historic Preservation from Middle TN State University in August 2018 and plans to work with Native peoples in historic preservation and protection efforts for traditional cultural properties. She has worked on projects including the Red Clay Cherokee Council Grounds State Historic Park Museum exhibit for the 175th Tri-Council anniversary, the Old Jefferson segment of the Cherokee Trail of Tears National Register of Historic Places nomination. She was awarded the Dorothy Potter Scholarship in 2015, and was a U.R.E.C.A. grant recipient for Cherokee Women's History in 2014.
